Gumroad vs Lemon Squeezy fees
What each platform deducts from one sale of 100, 500, 1,000 and 5,000 US dollars to a US buyer, computed from the fees Gumroad and Lemon Squeezy publish on their own pages.
Gumroad (partial). Only the Gumroad fee could be read: 10% + 0.50 US dollars on a direct sale and 30% on a Discover sale to a new customer. Whether a separate payment processing fee is added could not be read on a Gumroad page on 2026-10-06, so the Gumroad rows may understate what is deducted. The Lemon Squeezy rows are the base fee it publishes for a US buyer paying by card.
The short answer
On the published fees, Lemon Squeezy takes 5% + 0.50 US dollars per sale and Gumroad takes 10% + 0.50 on a sale you bring yourself. The fixed part is the same, so the difference is the percentage: the published Gumroad fee is higher by 5.00 on a sale of 100, 25.00 on 500, 50.00 on 1,000 and 250.00 on 5,000. A sale to a new customer through Gumroad's Discover marketplace costs 30%, which is more than either direct rate at every amount.

Gumroad Discover sale: worked examples
Gumroad publishes a separate fee when its Discover marketplace brings you a new customer. Lemon Squeezy has no row here because no marketplace rate for it is in the data this site read.

What the tables do not show
- Lemon Squeezy surcharges. Its documentation lists an extra 1.5% when the buyer pays with PayPal and an extra 0.5% on subscription payments. Both are added to the base fee and are not in the rows above.
- Lemon Squeezy payouts. A payout to a US bank account is listed with no fee; a payout to a US PayPal account is listed with a flat 0.50 US dollar fee.
- Gumroad payment processing and payouts. No number for either could be read on a Gumroad page. They are unknown here, not zero.
- Sales tax. Both act as merchant of record and handle sales tax, so on that point the two are like for like.

What these figures leave out
- Buyers outside the US. Lemon Squeezy publishes a surcharge for them, which is part of the Pro page; Gumroad publishes no figure for them on the pages read.
- Taxes, chargebacks and refunds.
- Everything that is not a fee: audience, checkout, features and support differ between the two and are not compared here.
- Rounding: fees are rounded to the nearest cent here. A provider may round one cent differently.
